“ It was time for some road trip food and what could be more fitting than a place named for the iconic route 66 ? The place itself is bright inside with rich red colors and bright lighting. There are plenty of posters displaying nostalgia. Our server greeted me with a big smile and a positive vibe. I ordered a burger with fries and a chocolate shake, what else would I order at a nostalgia diner ? The hamburger was very good, raw onion, lettuce and tomato. The fries were just ok to me but I don't enjoy fries as much as most people do. The shake was very good, rich, thick and chocolatey and my glass was filled plus the metal mixer cup was half full. The lady server was great, friendly and making sure things were going ok. The place was very clean, prices fair, good food, big portions and good service. Bingo the Route 66 diner hit on the things I look for in an eating establishment. I can recommend the Route 66 diner if you pass through Gallup on your road trip. On my return trip I pland to stop in again to have another burger and a chocolate shake. ”

“ This little diner is a great find. My mom and I stopped by on our way home from our NC to CA road trip. I got the stuffed sopapilla with eggs, bacon and hash browns, topped with green hatch chilies and cheese. It was awesome! The owner, Sal, was very hospitable and proud of his dinner. He said his m even makes the food and insists on working even though he and his siblings think she should be retired instead of working in the kitchen. She did a great job and I recommend to anyone looking for a good meal while passing through on Highway 40. ”

“ I spent the night in Gallup, and was looking for a great place to have breakfast. Thank goodness I found this place on yelp because I may have had the best breakfast I have ever had. The diner is not fancy, but you can smell the food from outside and it pulls you in like a rope. I was able to choose my seat, and a very friendly waitress I was at my table in less than a minute to get my drink order. There are many choices on the menu, including a few Mexican breakfast options, which I really appreciated because I figured if I was in Gallup, I wanted to get some thing with Mexican or American Indian flavor influences. I settled on the eggs and enchiladas and was not disappointed. My server recommended the green sauce has the red sauce is a bit spicier, but the green sauce was still quite a bit of bite and a whole lot of flavor. The enchiladas were full of cheese, and so delicious. The eggs were well cooked and the beans were everything. I hoped they would be. It was very clear as I looked around that this is a Place beloved by the locals, which always bodes well when I'm traveling. Most of the patrons knew each other but I ended up chatting with many of them, and they were very friendly. I highly recommend grabbing breakfast here if you find yourself in the area. I sincerely doubt that you will regret it and if I find myself in Gallup again, you can bet I'll be sitting there eating. ”

“ The food was amazing and the service was stellar. Brenda, our waitress, even loaned me her jacket while we ate. Such a sweet gesture! The outside is a little worse for wear so we were hesitant at first, but I can't recommend this place highly enough. Great ambience and decor too - truly old Route 66. ”
